Select by Rotation Angle is an Adobe Illustrator script that helps you quickly select objects based on their rotation angle. This powerful tool allows you to filter objects within a specific range of rotation angles, making it ideal for complex designs where manual selection would be time-consuming.

Installation

Download the Script:
Save the Select by Rotation Angle.jsx file to your computer.
Place in Scripts Folder:

For Mac: Copy the file to
/Applications/Adobe Illustrator [Version]/Presets/<Language>/Scripts/

For Windows: Copy the file to
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [Version]\Presets\<Language>\Scripts\
Restart Illustrator:
If Illustrator was running during installation, restart it to recognize the new script.

Using the Script

Launch the Script: Go to File > Scripts > Select by Rotation Angle
Configure Selection Settings: The dialog box offers the following options:

Choose the scope for your selection using the 'Search in:' dropdown menu:

Active Document: Search through all objects in the entire document.
Active Selection: Filter only among currently selected objects.
Active Layer: Search only in the active layer.
Active Artboard: Search only in the active artboard.

➋ Set the Rotation Angle Range

Rotation angle range: Set the minimum and maximum angles:

Set the minimum angle using the Min° slider or input field (0° to 360°).
Set the maximum angle using the Max° slider or input field (0° to 360°).
Use arrow keys in input fields to adjust values (hold Shift for 10° increments).

Check "Skip straight angles" to exclude objects rotated at exactly 0°, 90°, 180°, 270°, or 360°.
Click the icon ⏼ in the bottom right corner to access the user guide.

Click "OK" to run the script.
A progress bar will appear for large documents.
Selected objects will be highlighted, and the view will auto-zoom to fit them.
A confirmation dialog will show how many objects were selected.

The script works on visible and unlocked items only.
The precision of angle calculation may vary slightly depending on your Illustrator version.
It's recommended to save your complex documents before running the script to ensure all changes are securely backed up.

4. Ownership
The Software and all intellectual property rights therein remain the exclusive property of the Licensor. This Agreement does not transfer ownership of the Software or any intellectual property rights to the User.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. This Agreement is effective until terminated. Licensor may terminate this Agreement immediately if you breach any term of this Agreement. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and destroy any copies in your possession.

8. Updates and Support
Licensor is not obligated to provide updates, support, or maintenance for the Software. However, updates may be provided at the sole discretion of the Licensor.

9. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

10. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Licensor concerning the Software and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous understandings regarding such subject matter.
By using the Software, you acknowledge that you have read this Agreement, understand it, and agree to be bound by its terms.
